How do I compare the size I need in a Freedom Lite to a typical lead acid battery?

Excellent question – the rule of thumb is that the Ah nameplate capacity of a lithium battery like Freedom Lite need only be half of a typical lead-acid battery. This is largely because of the typical DoD that can be used in each case as explained above, but also because the lead-acid discharge efficiency of around 70% means that much of the energy is wasted instead of being available for the load. The discharge efficiency of Freedom Lite is 98% but for capacity comparisons we use 100% because the Freedom Lite cells actually deliver 10 % more than their nameplate capacity for a discharge time of more than 3 hours.
